The general lecture offers some basic insights for entrepreneurship and relates these insights to the entrepreneurship environment of Palestine in WASH and CSA. Enabling policies are required from the side of the government, and sectoral cooperation between different partners, like traders and farmers, is also desirable. Individual farmers, both smallholders and larger farmers need to upgrade the quality of the produce, and explore packaging, diversification and processing of the produce. This field of activities will be explored in an interactive introductory lecture.

The exercise in the second part focuses on “opportunity recognition”. Apart from all the necessary enablers mentioned in the general lecture, from a business perspective, there are always unexpected and creative opportunities to chip in for startups and SMEs and sometimes larger companies. In outbreak groups, the participants will exchange about the opportunities they see in the field of WASH and CSA. These opportunities will be discussed and evaluated in the plenary by which the entrepreneurship session closes. Part of the discussion will also be the question of how students can be prepared for an entrepreneurial role in this field.
