Managing heavy metals contaminated industrial wastewater from inorganic chemical ‎industries in the West Bank: Implementing cleaner production (CP) for sustainability

Category: Water Resources

Objectives:

The main goal of this project is to recommend through pilot studies appropriate CP tools and best practices to ‎efficiently manage industrial wastewater contaminated with heavy metals (i.e. from leather industry) in the ‎West Bank. Therefore, it focuses on the management and treatment of wastewater polluted with heavy metals ‎generated from local chemical industries (leather tanning) and generalizes them to galvanization and aluminum ‎fabrication. The project uses appropriate tools, techniques and technologies for treating industrial wastewater ‎containing heavy metals for pollution prevention, control, recycling and reuse of resources and the recovery of ‎metals and value added products.
